| DESCRIPTION | This group includes special steels intended for applications where the phenomenon of viscous creep is present: a phenomenon that leads to continuous plastic (and therefore permanent) deformation over time when the steel is subjected to the combined action of temperature and stress. The temperature range in which to consider viscous creep goes from 350 °C for carbon steels to approximately 700 °C for alloyed ones. The A182 Series groups weldable low-carbon steels for typical uses in the construction of valves, flanges, fittings, pipes, and parts in service at high temperatures. The A193 Series groups quenched and tempered steels for applications primarily in the bolting and fastener sector. |
