| WHAT THEY ARE | General-purpose non-alloy steels used primarily in load-bearing structures and, more generally, in structural engineering and/or general mechanical applications. They are characterized by a limited Carbon content, to which varying amounts of Manganese and Silicon are added depending on the intended use, in order to achieve specific levels of weldability and strength. Their main characteristic is the ability to increase the yield strength through cold working (drawing and/or cold rolling). |

| WHAT THEY ARE | Non-alloy steels in which Carbon is the main alloying element. Suitable for a wide range of general applications, they are generally quenching and tempering steels with good levels of weldability, even cold weldability (low C content). After quenching and tempering, they exhibit good levels of yield strength and tensile strength, as well as elongation and toughness. The typical application is the manufacture of stressed mechanical components such as racks, shafts, fasteners, bushings, and mechanical parts. Those with a higher Carbon content are well suited to surface hardening treatments, ideal for components subject to mechanical stress. |

| WHAT THEY ARE | Low-alloy steels resistant to high pressures, elevated or cryogenic temperatures, and also subject to mechanical stress. These steels are typically used for the manufacture of industrial boilers and tanks, heat exchangers, chemical reactors, and storage facilities for pressurized gases or liquids. |

| WHAT THEY ARE | Steels typically with a low Carbon content, alloyed with typical elements such as Manganese, Vanadium, Niobium, and Titanium. These alloying elements, together with specific production processes such as thermomechanical rolling, give these steels a fine-grained microstructure, resulting in excellent mechanical strength, good weldability, and ductility. Typical fields of application range from automotive components, to metal structures subject to significant stress, to pressure fluid systems. Another typical application is the production of mechanical components, especially for the automotive sector, through forging. |
